Cost of Weight Lifting Equipment

Weight lifting equipment such as free weights will improve your muscle size as well as your stamina compared to using weight machines. Weight machines, however, are great because they isolate and focus on muscle groups and also controls the strain placed on your muscles. No matter what type of weight lifting equipment you want to buy, it is safe to say that they are both beneficial to your well-being. Before you go out and buy weight lifting equipment, you need to know the typical costs so that you know that you’re not getting ripped off.

First off, cast iron sets are going to be cheaper than solid steel discs, but none of them are better than the other in terms of conditioning. If you’re in the market for a dumbbell set, you’ll be looking at paying anywhere between $85 – $500 for a 50 pound range. Olympic weight bench sets can cost you anywhere between $200 to $1000. Cheap weight lifting equipment doesn’t always mean that you’re buying lower quality, it might just mean that you’re buying slightly used.

Kettle bells make a great addition to any home weight training equipment collection, and expect to pay about $1 per pound for new kettle bells. Other home weight lifting equipment can incur costs that will add up as well such as rubber mats for your floors, weight racks, etc. If you live in a place where you don’t have enough room for a full home gym, your best bet will be buying free weights for the house. A huge benefit with buying free weights is that you can buy the set in pieces as you go along.

Most discount weight lifting equipment stores will sell nothing but used equipment, which is a great business plan. These stores understand that some people just have to sell their gym equipment for various reasons and they also know that people are willing to buy equipment that is used if it’s going to save them hundreds of dollars in the long run. For those looking to buy new however, I suggest you find a brand or company that you like and stick with them. It’s also cheaper to slowly buy second hand gym equipment with the same brand for your set.

I personally have a few free weight dumbbell sets in my garage and it is really helpful when I do my low impact, resistance training. They are also great for warming up your joints before you r heavy weight lifting.
